    In your experience, are most "symptomatic" toxic annular tears a result of trauma or an accident? Or can the also be a result of normal aging and "wear and tear?"

  • @tomhowarth6697

    I'm trying to figure out if an annular tear that appears on my MRI is the source of my back pain. In late November I had some severe back spasms. I had mild/moderate discomfort for a few months prior, but was able to keep it under control with advil/Icy Hot (when I wanted to be active). Within a month after my spasms, I was moving around better and feeling improvements. I did physical therapy for about a month and was still not "normal" so an MRI was prescribed. The MRI came back with a few mild bulges and two annular fissures. One at L5-S1 and one at L3-L4. In February my doctor reviewed my MRI and thought the possible source of my pain was the small fissure in L5-S1. I was improving, but not near normal. I continued to improve over the next few months and started to re-introduce some of my physical activities back into my routine (per the approval of my doctor and chiropractor). I did some light lifting and hit a few easy golf shots, I did not immediately feel any discomfort. I decided not to do any golf (just as a precaution). I continued with light weight lifting. I never had any issues while doing this. At about month 5 I started to regress. I am now back to where I was at month 1 or 2 (even though it's been 6 months since my spasms). My pain is somewhat intermittent. It is centrally located in my lower back (at the belt line). I would describe it as sometimes a tightness and other times it can be a light burning sensation. Sometimes I have "tingling" that I feel in my outer right thigh and sometimes I feel light tingling in my right foot (usually down to the big toe). It is just tingling, not pain, weakness or numbness. Right now I am being told that it will take 12-18 months to heal the tear. It is just a waiting game. I walk daily and do some basic stretching and core exercises. Any thoughts?

    Dear Dr. Tony Mork, Does PRP (platelet-rich plasma) injection work in case of disc related problems (annular tears, or just disc protrusion) that cause chronic pain (for several years) in the lumbar region (L4-L5)? There is no radicular pain, but there is constant local pain slightly above the PSIS, and sometimes a mild sensation in my hip, in the gluteus medius (maybe this can be called referred pain?). (I have never had any radicular pain in my legs. Imaging studies only show one-sided protrusion of the L4-L5 disc.) Thank you.

    • @DrTonyMork
      @DrTonyMork 2 місяці тому

      In my experience, if your pain is from an annular tear, PRP (or stem cells) will not help because the blood supply is so marginal.

    I had the TFESI procedure done today. I can't believe the people who said they felt no pain or very little pain as the procedure was pretty painful for me! I had opted for the nitrous oxide (laughing gas) but the pain I felt was certainly "no laughing matter!" The procedure was tolerable for the first 10 minutes or so with the pricks and stings of needles, BUT towards the end of the procedure, I felt enormous stabbing, throbbing pains inside on my left side. I have been suffering for 5+ years with excruciating back pain, so despite the painful epidural injection today, I am praying for a miracle of at least 50% pain reduction. I'm glad for those who had success with this procedure and I surely hope that's my outcome too! 🙏❤🙏❤

Hmmmmm.....If low blood flow to the heart can cause heart problems, if low blood flow to the brain causes cognitive problems, if low blood flow to the penis causes stiffy problems, why can't low blood flow to the spine cause those joint, disc and muscular symptoms? Due to the fact that 80% of chronic disease is traceable to diet, maybe a good place to start. Otherwise you're just a mechanic and we all know how dodgy and money hungry they are.....

    I want you to know the many lives that you have saved because these surgeons out here are putting metal in a patient's bodies and not telling them how devastating it can be to us. The clique to want to replace the disks I had an annular tear but the doctor completely disregarded the mei report. I had an annular tear with presents of fluid in a mass effect into the cord with complete flattening of my cord .. He operated and put a artificial disc in my neck and it ruined my life. Not only is my body's immune response completely forever destroyed, but I had to have the disc removed and now I have even worse problems as I have a bulging disc and the pain in my arm and legs is excruciating but I would rather die than let another one of these doctors touch me Dr Mork I wish I had been back in California when this happened and seen you you would have changed my life for the better
